In UAE, H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Office launched the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy identifying the Abu Dhabi Government will invest AED10 billion across six transformational programmes to more than double the size of Abu Dhabi’s manufacturing sector to AED172 billion by 2031.
The strategy’s initiatives will also advance the emirate’s development into a global hub for future industries, with a focus on seven targeted manufacturing sectors: chemicals, machinery, electrical power, electrical equipment, transportation, agri-foods, and pharmaceuticals.
Damac Properties awarded a US$168.2 Mn main construction contract to Pivot Contracting for the Costa Brava cluster within its Damac Lagoons master development. The contract includes 976 townhouses and standalone villas.
In Saudi Arabia, BATIC Real Estate, has signed an agreement with Al Mqr Development Company, the investment arm of Madinah Municipality, for the development of a residential neighborhood project on a 229,000sqm area in Madinah. Longitude Engineering, ABL Group’s engineering, advisory, and design arm, has been awarded a contract to provide engineering support to Air Products on the NEOM green hydrogen project. The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company aims to build the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility from local onshore wind and solar power.
Saudi Arabia has announced a new mixed use development called AlNama in Riyadh. The 10sq.km smart city will comprise 11,000 residential units and a population of 44,000. In addition, there will be a hospitality hub that will encourage ecotourism by showcasing eco-friendly glamping lodges, eco-resorts, and a wildlife conservation center.
The project will also include a medical hub with an autism village, a wellness center, and other clinics that aid in promoting medical travel. The project’s design is being developed by Dubai based URB.
In Oman, the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones awarded a contract for the construction of Phase 1 of National Road 32, a 16km carriageway. The contract was awarded Galfar Engineering and Contracting. The National Engineering Office Architects and Consulting Engineers has been appointed as the construction supervision consultant.
