In UAE, Novel Foods Group, Glatt Group, Bio-Engineering AG, and CB Consultancy AG signed a landmark agreement to commence the planning phase of a US$500 Mnr biotech production site. The new biotech production site will focus on the development of brazzein, a natural sweet protein with a genuine sugar taste that is several thousand times sweeter than traditional sugar.
Hilton and real estate developer NABNI Developments unveiled plans for a new development – Waldorf Astoria Residences in Dubai Downtown. Situated on a 1.5-acre plot, the project is scheduled to be completed in 2028. The project’s design team will include Carlos Ott Architects and Hirsch Bedner Associates.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub and Tim Aerospace broke ground on their new hangar at Dubai South. The new facility will be built with the maximum allowed design dimensions, making it one of the largest wide-body capable aircraft MRO hangars in the GCC, with a capacity for up to five wide-body aircraft.
In Saudi Arabia, electric vehicle firm Ceer awarded a US$1.3 Bn contract for the construction of a manufacturing site spanning over one million square meters in King Abdullah Economic City to Modern Building Leaders. The plant will have dedicated zones for every stage of vehicle production, including a press shop, body shop, paint shop, and general assembly. The complex will also include dedicated zones for logistics, waste management, warehouses, offices, a water treatment system and a vehicle test track.
Gas Arabian Services Company, in Saudi Arabia, announced that it has signed two contracts with Saudi Power Procurement Company with a combined value of US$159.4 Mn dollars. The project, with a duration of 22 months, calls for the engineering, procurement and construction of gas pipelines at Qassim and Taibah.
NEOM has unveiled Gidori, an exclusive private golf community, as the latest addition to its Giga development project. The project will house 190 luxury sea-view apartments alongside an 18-hole championship golf course and a range of dining experiences, signature retail stores and garden spaces.
In Qatar, Public Works Authority Ashghal awarded the second school PPP contract to the local UrbaCon Trading and Contracting Company, which will provide facilities for over 10,000 students. Five primary schools, four preparatory schools, three secondary schools and two science and technology schools will be built under the design, build, finance and maintain contract to be operational from the academic year 2025-26.
