SAMI Composites, a wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), has announced that it has signed an agreement with Lockheed Martin to develop a composites manufacturing centre of excellence in Riyadh with the support of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), to boost Saudi Arabia’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities.
Jeddah Central Development Company (JCDC) has signed an agreement with GMP International Spain GMBH and Khatib and Alami to design the Stadium at the Jeddah Central Project. The stadium is set to be one of four major landmarks of the Jeddah Central Project, the other three being a Museum, an Opera House, and an Oceanarium.
In UAE, Jubail Island Investment Company (JIIC) held the groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for the new townhouses which will be part of the premium residential community at Souk Al Jubail on Jubail Island. Set to be completed by March 2024, the project will see 150 unique elegant and spacious townhouses, ranging from two, three and four-bedroom units. China State Construction Engineering Corporation is the main contractor for the US$60 Mn development.
Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) issued a Request for Qualification (RFQ), for companies interested in developing the Al Ajban Solar PV Independent Project. The emirate’s third solar PV IPP located in Ajban, Abu Dhabi will have a total capacity of 1,500 megawatts.
EWEC and Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) have issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to pre-qualified companies and consortia that had expressed interest in developing the greenfield Abu Dhabi Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Independent Power Project (IPP) to be located near the existing Al Dhafra landfill in Abu Dhabi. The WtE plant will have an expected processing capacity of 900,000 tonnes of waste per year and will generate enough electricity to power up to 52,500 households, making it one of the largest WtE facilities in the region.
In Qatar, Milaha has won a five-year engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract from QatarEnergy valued at more than US$381 million to deliver EPCI services for offshore projects in Qatar.
